I've been clearing out my books drawer. Very few things to get rid of, quite a few to go in the space in the cupboard in the spare room from where I transferred tapes back to my room last week.
The clearing-out and putting-back process meant putting books on the bed next to sleeping Ella, who quickly became Awake And Not Very Pleased Ella until I had finished (My bed is one of her favourite sleeping places :-)
Dear Hardcore Drum 'N' Bass track
How did you get onto a tape[1] belonging to me?
Regards,
Soul/jazz/R&B lover. Please note.
[1] Admittedly very old, but still... I must have left the tape running at some point

I'm losing patience with Smallville. On the one hand, there is no reason to keep Welling out of the tights and out of the sky except that the creating producers who quit a year and a half ago said they wouldn't. On the other hand, there's every reason to do it, mainly this "Red-Blue Blur" who now only wears black ... For Clark to have gone about two years like this without presenting a public face rubs me the wrong way. There would be consequences to the way he was perceived once he did go public that I don't see reflected in the existing gestalt of the legend. It seems to me a major deviation, which wouldn't bother me per se except I don't believe it's what they mean to do.
The gripping hand is, I'm two one and a half episodes behind on the DVR and it looks like maybe they're going that way, even have got there while I wasn't looking. Edit Okay, maybe not.
I've been making Boiled Fruit Cake, the one I made for
donbert's birthday last year :-) It took a bit of a while longer to cook this time!

Since I know there's lots of Muppet fans on my f'list...
I've been looking on EBay for the wire recommended for the jewellery project I want to make.
Eeep! I am *not* paying that much for jewellery wire!
I think I'll just use the wire I've got and see how that turns out...

Wow, I loved it. Yeah, it's a kid movie, but it is as full of sci-fi and pop references as any episode of Farscape (or more). And the Captain is definitely John Crichton, but apparently also based on Chuck Yaeger.
It was a pretty good watch - I highly recommend it for 'scapers - just don't go in expecting a Wall-E-like excellence.
If you are watching Waters of Mars for the first time, and you have to stop fifty minutes in because it's the end of your lunch break, don't subsequently splosh water onto your desk.
Not even one drop.
That is all.

( Captain's log, supplemental: The first contact mission to the Klingon world has taken a bad turn. According to Spock and Scott, the warpship they claim to have built, they can't have built - it must have been seized from aliens who landed here previously. And - perhaps in anticipation of this discovery on our part - General Kartasp has taken hostages: three of my crewmen and the Doctor's three companions. )
My pictures from Novacon in Nottingham earlier this month are now on my web site:

We're so delighted with the immense talent of our growing, global
lj_photophile community that we've decided to introduce a poll. Each week, we'll choose a half-dozen photos (based on user comments and staff feedback) and ask you to select a photo of the week. The winning photo will be announced in the next newsletter. If possible, please limit photo size to 350x350 to ensure that images display properly on friends pages. We want to thank you again (and again!) for sharing your passion.
Check out this week's photo poll and more fantastic user content after the jump!

Thanks for joining us. To our American friends, have a fantastic Thanksgiving. To all of our international neighbors, we'll eat a little extra for you!
The BBC have published some press reviews of the National Theatre's production of Nation Sadly, they aren't too encouraging.
Whose thinking of going?
I've just been doing something I haven't done for a while, namely googling on Family Bites (I wanted something to do while this Motown tape was digitising).
First: Thank you to the people who mentioned the book to Library Thing. (And also to TV Tropes, which I mentioned some time back:-)
Also: Especially thank you to whoever told Library Thing that I wasn't Lisa Williams, the American TV Psychic.
And also: The TV Psychic's name came up so many times during my googling that I've decided that, when/if FB2 is complete, I'm going to add an initial to my name on the front of it.
(I'm not a big one for TV Psychics. But I except they know that... *g*)
I've made my lovely chilli this morning:-) Trouble is, now I want to eat it *now*...
